October 5, 2018 Fat Mascara
John Demsey, executive group president of Estée Lauder Companies, Inc.

John Demsey, executive group president of Estée Lauder Companies, Inc.

John Demsey doesn’t give interviews often, but when he does…woo hoo! The executive group president of Estée Lauder Companies Inc.—i.e., the man in charge of Clinique, MAC, Tom Ford Beauty, Jo Malone London, Smashbox, Prescriptives, Aramis, Too Faced, Becca, By Kilian, GlamGlow, Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle, Le Labo and RODIN olio lusso—is in the studio to talk about his career, share some personal stories, and offer up advice to would-be beauty entrepreneurs. We also talk about spending money on fragrances (and the perfume Jess picked up in Amsterdam), whether or not face rollers work, and teeny, tiny, annoying pimples.

Ep. 126: Don't @ Me

September 28, 2018 Fat Mascara
People style and beauty director Andrea Lavinthal

People style and beauty director Andrea Lavinthal

Jess is in Germany on a work trip and left Jenn all alone. But, not to worry, Jenn brought a friend to fill in: People style and beauty director Andrea Lavinthal. Andrea shares what it’s like in the magazine’s “war room” during a red carpet event, her favorite beauty products, her worst beauty treatment ever (all we can say is “shredded carrots”), and why Sean “Diddy” Combs will probably never speak to her again. After that, Andrea and Jenn talk about frizzy-hair fixes and discuss what beauty brands do (and don’t) get out of hiring a famous spokesperson.

Ep. 125: Let's Talk About Lady Parts

September 21, 2018 Fat Mascara
Love Wellness founder Lo Bosworth

Love Wellness founder Lo Bosworth

Drink every time we say vagina! Just kidding…but not really. Lo Bosworth, co-host of the podcast Lady Lovin, founder of the wellness company Love Wellness, and former pseudo-reality TV star (Laguna Beach, The Hills), is in the studio. Her company makes feminine care products, so we talk a lot about lady parts. Even if that discussion doesn’t interest you, there’s plenty of other good stuff in this episode! We present a case for the beginning of a less- (or even no-) makeup era in which the “Instagram aesthetic” starts to wane. Jess shares her experience at the the Avant Garden exhibit presented by International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF). And there’s also some clarification on what essentials oils are and how to use them (after the past few episodes, we felt that was in order).

Below are links to the people, places, and products mentioned on this episode. If you have any questions (or just want to say hi) reach out to us on Instagram, Twitter or via email (info@fatmascara.com).
